If you dream of chatting to Apple (AAPL) chief Tim Cook while drinking your brew, then here’s your chance.
CharityBuzz — a New York-based for-profit internet company that raises funds for nonprofit organizations through online charity auctions — has partnered with RF Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights to auction off a coffee break with the Apple boss at his company’s headquarters in Cupertino, California.
While the offer of the sit-down, which began on April 24 and quickly reached $10,000 within approximately an hour, was originally pegged at $50,000, bidding so far has blown past that, with the current top bid now going for a whooping $560,000.
“People must really be upset with Tim that they are willing to spend that much money to give him a piece of their mind,” joked Rob Enderle, principal technology analyst at the Enderle Group.
The bidding still has 18 days left until it closes.
The lucky winning bidder is allowed to take one guest to meet Mr. Cook, and the terms of the auction state that both people must “conduct themselves appropriately when attending an experience won at Charitybuzz. Polite manners and respect for the generous donor and adherence to any rules or parameters are a must.”
Travel and accommodations are not included. It is unclear who will pay for the coffee.
