After opening up pre-orders for the new iPad mini last Friday at midnight, Apple appears to have sold out of its initial inventory in just three days. Online orders placed now through Apple.com are being quoted two-week shipping estimates.
Apple sold out all white and silver iPad mini model in just minutes on Friday, while the entry 16-gigabyte black and slate iPad mini sold out roughly 35 hours after becoming available. As of Monday morning, launch-day inventory in capacities from 16 gigabytes to 64 gigabytes ran out as well. At this point, those hoping to snag an iPad mini on Nov. 2, can go to a retail Apple store and brave the line. Apple’s stores, which typically have the best stockpiles, but they also draw the longest lines, will begin sales of the smaller iPad at 8:00 AM on Friday.
No word yet in terms of how many iPad mini units Apple (AAPL) has sold.
