Any fiscal plan that fails to tackle military spending, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security is “a sparrow’s belch in the midst of a typhoon,” former Senator Alan Simpson, chairman of a presidential deficit-reduction commission said in an interview aired on Sunday.
