Google (GOOGL) Buys Visual-Effects Software Company

Google (GOOGL) today announced the acquisition of Zync Render, a visual-effects software company which through its extra rendering capacity lets movie studios create enhanced scenes and graphics for big projects like ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ or ‘Looper’.

Zync, whose software has helped people produce more than 12 movies and hundreds of commercials, says the move to Google will help it achieve “more scalability, more host packages and better pricing (including per-minute billing).”

The Zync team will join the Google Cloud Platform team. The search giant says it will have more details about its plans for Zync Render in the coming months.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
