Apple Ready to Build Nearly 400K Next-Generation MacBook Airs this Month: Report

AppleInsider reports that Mac maker Apple, Inc (AAPL) is about to build 380,000 the second-generation of revitalized MacBook Airs this month.

Citing exclusive information from Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, whose industry assessments have long offered reliable insight into the Cupertino-based company’s future hardware plans, 55% (or 209,000) of the notebooks will be of the 11.6-inch variety, and the rest will be of the 13.3-inch variety.

Additionally, Kuo told AppleInsider that Apple intends “to reduce production of existing MacBook Airs this month with a final run of 80,000 units, bringing the total number of MacBook Airs scheduled for manufacturing in June to 460,000.”

Shares of Apple were down $4.75, or 1.43%, to $326.74 at 1:24 pm ET on Friday.
