First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) just printed a new high of day. Strength being attributed to a Dept of Energy press release that says U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced the offer of a conditional commitment to Agua Caliente Solar, LLC for a loan guarantee of up to $967 million.
The loan guarantee will support the construction of a 290-megawatt photovoltaic solar generating facility located in Yuma County, Arizona that will use thin film solar panels from First Solar, Inc. The project sponsor, NRG Solar, estimates the project will be the largest photovoltaic generation facility in the world when it is completed.
At last check, FSLR was up $2.71, or 1.90%, to HoD of $146.40.
At some point the tipping point must come, when the world is irreversably committed to finding alternative forms of energy that are clean and affordable.
