Morning Buzz: Zafgen (ZFGN), Xilinx (XLNX), Plexus Corp. (PLXS), Barclays (BCS)

Zafgen, Inc. (ZFGN) shares continue to skyrocket on positive obesity drug results. The name is higher by more than 12% to $11.25 in pre-market trading on Thursday.

ZFGN soared 70% to $11.88 on Wednesday.

Xilinx Inc. (XLNX) shares surged 10% to $47.38 in late morning trading after the chipmaker matched estimates with Q3 profit of $0.49 per share on revenues of $566 million. Analysts were expecting revenues of $554.5 million. The move comes on a big volume too with the issue currently trading more than 5 million shares, compared to the average daily volume of 2.8 million shares.

Plexus Corp. (PLXS) reported first-quarter EPS of $0.47 before the opening bell Thursday, compared to the consensus estimate of $0.45. Revenues decreased 7.2% from last year to $617 million. Analysts expected revenues of $608.86 million. The stock is currently up $4.09 to $33.72 on 450K shares.

Barclays (BCS) – Bloomberg reports the London-based banking giant will cut about 1,200 jobs in its investment banking business, and shut securities operations across Asia.
