The U.S. Treasury said Wednesday it would issue $72 billion in new debt next week, auctions which will take the federal government right up to its debt limit. The Treasury said it continues to be confident that Congress will increase the limit, though it cautioned that auction schedules may ultimately end up being disrupted if congress doesn’t respond before Aug. 2. – WSJ
