Twitter co-founder Evan Williams is stepping down as the short-messaging service’s CEO. COO Dick Costolo will take over Twitters’ new chief executive position, effective immediately.
Promoting Costolo frees Williams up to be “completely focused on product strategy,” Twitter’s creator wrote in a post on the company’s blog announcing Costolo’s new role.
