Notable Downgrades: MBIA (MBI), Qualcomm (QCOM), MarketAxess (MKTX), Popular, Inc. (BPOP), F5 Networks (FFIV)

Analysts at MKM Partners downgraded MBIA Inc. (MBI) from ‘Buy‘ to ‘Neutral‘ in a research report issued to clients on Monday. The firm noted  Puerto Rico Governor Alejandro Garcia Padilla suggested Puerto Rico’s $72 billion debt is not payable and there was no other option than to begin to look for concessions from creditors.

The target price for MBI is lowered from $20 to $8.

On valuation measures, MBIA Inc. stock it’s trading at a forward P/E multiple of 16.33x, and at a multiple of 3.77x this year’s estimated earnings. The t-12-month revenue at MBIA Inc. is $1.06 billion. MBI’s ROE for the same period is 10.10%.

Shares of the $1.24 billion market cap company are down 29.13% year-over-year and 12.79% year-to-date.

MBIA Inc., currently with a median Wall Street price target of $16.50 and a high target of $20.00, dropped $1.48 to $6.84 in recent trading.

Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM) was downgraded from ‘Hold‘ to ‘Sell‘ at Drexel Hamilton.

Qualcomm Inc. shares are currently changing hands at 15.01x this year’s forecasted earnings, compared to the industry’s 9.28x earnings multiple. Ticker has a t-12 price/sales ratio of 3.83. EPS for the same period registers at $4.23.

Shares of QCOM have lost $1.23 to $63.44 in midday trading on Monday, giving it a market cap of roughly $104 billion. The stock traded as high as $81.97 in July 23, 2014.

Macquarie reported on Monday that they have lowered their rating for MarketAxess Holdings Inc. (MKTX). The firm has downgraded MKTX from ‘Neutral‘ to ‘Underperform‘.

MarketAxess Holdings Inc. recently traded at $94.50, a loss of $2.36 over Friday’s closing price. The name has a current market capitalization of $3.53 billion.

As for passive income investors, the New York-based electronic trading platform operator pays shareholders $0.80 per share annually in dividends, yielding 0.90%. Five year average dividend yield currently stands at 1.10%.

Popular, Inc. (BPOP) had its rating lowered from ‘Buy‘ to ‘Neutral‘ by analysts at Guggenheim on Monday.

Currently there are 5 analysts that rate BPOP a ‘Buy‘ versus 1 analyst rating it a ‘Sell‘. No analyst rates it a ‘Hold‘.

BPOP was down $3.81 at $29.13 in midday trade, moving within a 52-week range of $26.53 to $35.83. The name, valued at $3.01 billion, opened at $30.85.

On valuation measures, Popular Inc. shares have a t-12 price/sales ratio of 3.06. EPS for the same period registers at ($3.20).

Xoom Corporation (XOOM) was downgraded by Susquehanna from a ‘Positive‘ rating to a ‘Neutral‘ rating in a research report issued to clients on Monday. They currently have a $24 price objective on the stock, 7 points lower from their previous price target.

XOOM closed at $22.37 on Friday and is currently trading down $2.01.

Over the past year, shares of online money transfer services provider have traded between a low of $13.14 and a high of $28.20 and are now trading at $20.36. Shares are down 13.09% year-over-year ; up 27.76% year-to-date.

Analysts at Piper Jaffray downgraded F5 Networks, Inc. (FFIV) from ‘Overweight‘ to ‘Neutral‘ in a research report issued to clients on Monday.

F5 Networks Inc., currently valued at $8.73 billion, has a median Wall Street price target of $130.00 with a high target of $160.00. Approximately 554K shares have changed hands, compared to the stock’s average daily volume of 750K.

In the past 52 weeks, shares of Seattle, Washington-base company have traded between a low of $106.82 and a high of $136.11 with the 50-day MA and 200-day MA located at $126.18 and $121.71 levels, respectively. Additionally, shares of FFIV trade at a P/E ratio of 25.91 and have a Relative Strength Index (RSI) and MACD indicator of 34.93 and -2.13, respectively.

F5 Networks Inc. currently prints a year-to-date loss of around 5%.
