FOX Business Network (FBN) Washington correspondent Rich Edson reports that House Republicans will offer a debt-limit increase until November 22nd and that they will present this to President Obama this afternoon. Edson reports that this offer “would also require Congress to appoint budget committee conferees and the president would have to agree to sit down and work with Republicans on debt limit and government funding and appropriation.”
On the offer that House Republicans will present to President Obama this afternoon:
“This is what the House Republicans are going to present to President Obama later this afternoon at the White House: a debt limit increase until November 22nd. Now that’s not something that would allow the Treasury Department to use those extraordinary measures to extend it, that would be a hard deadline, November 22nd. It would also require Congress to appoint budget committee conferees and the president would have to agree to sit down and work with Republicans on debt limit and government funding and appropriation. So they are looking to have a negotiation on all of this. Democrats saying they’ll join a negotiation after they pass a clean debt limit increase and this would appear to be that but we still have yet to hear back from the White House.”
