Amid the endless search for yield in a low-rate environment following the financial crisis, the demand for top-selling exchange-traded funds [ETFs] has risen owing to their ability to deliver steady income.
There is no denying the fact that as a whole 2013 has been a solid year for both ETFs and equity markets so far. According to data compiled by Index Universe, U.S.-listed ETFs and ETNs (exchange traded note) “broke through the $1.5 trillion mark in overall assets, adding $83.4 billion — a 5.44 percent gain — in the first 4 1/2 months of the year alone.”
