Annual inflation in the euro area jumped to 2.2% in December from 1.9% in November, according to an initial estimate from Eurostat, the European Union’s statistics agency. Price rises exceed the ECB’s target for the first time in more than two year. The ECB’s aim is to keep price growth at just below 2%.
