New U.S. claims for unemployment benefits last week dropped to their lowest level in more than two years, the Labor Department said on Wednesday. Initial claims fell 34,000 to a seasonally adjusted 407,000, the lowest since mid-July 2008. That was well below economists’ expectations for a fall to 435,000. – Reuters
