GM to Start Battery Production on Thursday

Freep.com is reporting that General Motors is to begin battery pack production at its new Brownstown Township factory on Thursday.

The lithium-ion battery packs will be used in the Chevrolet Volt electric car, which is to begin production later this year.

Co. was in the running to build the Chevy Volt’s battery packs but lost the round to Compact Power, a subsidiary of LG Chem. The co. is engaged in design and development efforts with several passenger vehicle manufacturers, including GM and Think Global AS.
