Ravi Balakrishnan is an economist in the Research Department of the IMF, where he works in the World Economic Studies Division. Mr. Balakrishnan, a U.K. national, holds a Ph.D. in economics from the London School of Economics.
He started his career at the Bank of England and Bank of Spain, before joining the IMF in 2001. Since then, he has worked on various countries, including Bolivia and the United States, before taking up his current position.
His policy and research interests are labor and job dynamics, inflation dynamics, exchange rate dynamics and capital flows, and capital markets and financial systems. His research has been published in the European Economic Review, the Journal of International Money and Finance, and IMF staff papers.
