Reuters reports that Mentor Graphics Corp. (MENT) has retained Goldman Sachs (GS) for takeover defense and strategic advice, as the software maker becomes a target of a potential proxy fight by activist shareholders, including Carl Icahn. Billionaire investor Icahn, who owns a stake of about 14.7% in Mentor Graphics, announced plans on Tuesday to nominate at least three directors to the board, according to a regulatory filing.
