Morning Buzz: Baidu (BIDU), United (UAL), Juniper (JNPR), MannKind (MNKD)

Bloomberg reports thatBaidu Inc. (BIDU) is seeking a $1 billion loan. The report notes that China’s biggest search engine aims to borrow the funds through a five-year syndicated facility for general corporate purposes.

Baidu closed at $185.07 on Monday.

Reuters discusses that United Continental Holdings Inc (UAL) is close to comply with two hedge funds’ request and add additional directors to its board, including an independent chairman. The funds, which together hold 7.1% of the stock of the U.S. airline, launched a fight for control in March, proposing to put a slate of six people led by industry legend Gordon Bethune on the airline’s board at its annual meeting this spring.

Shares of Juniper Networks, Inc. (JNPR) are lower by nearly 9% to $22.71 in pre-market trading on Tuesday after the company lowered its 2016 first quarter earnings and revenue forecast. Juniper said it expects to report Q1 2016 EPS of $0.35 to $0.37 per share, well below estimates of $0.45 a share. The networking company also said revenue would be below forecasts, ranging between $1.09B – $1.1B, which is below its previous expectations for revenue between $1.15B – $1.19B.

Shares of MannKind Corporation (MNKD) surged more than 25% to $1.52 on Monday. The stock continues to rise pre-market on news the biopharmaceutical firm will be holding a special conference call with investors to share more details about its future commercialization plans for Afrezza.
