American Express (AXP) is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings after the close of today’s trading session. Wall Street analysts are on average expecting the credit card company to post $8.32 billion in sales during the quarter. This would show a 0.48% increase from the Q215 revenue of $8.28 billion, and a decrease of 0.12% from the same period in Q314. EPS in Q315 are expected to come in at $1.31, a decline rate of 6.43% from $1.40 per share a year earlier. Meanwhile, EarningsWhisper.com reports a whisper number of $1.33 per share.
As a quick reminder, American Express reported Q215 EPS of $1.42, $0.10 better than the Street’s consensus estimate. Revs decreased 4.39% YoY to $8.28 billion vs. the $8.46 billion consensus.
On valuation measures, American Express stock it’s trading at a forward P/E multiple of 13.48x, and at a multiple of 13.53x this year’s estimated earnings. The t-12-month revenue at AmEx is $31.76 billion. The name’s ROE for the same period is 28.13%.
Shares of the $77.05 billion market cap company are down 7.13% year-over-year and 16.15% year-to-date.
American Express Co., currently with a median Wall Street price target of $86 and a high target of $98, gained $0.49 to $77.44 in recent trading.
