Apple (AAPL) shares touched an all-time high of $102.90 on Friday, a day after it sent out invitations for a Sept. 9 media event in Cupertino, California.
The gray and white invitations, featuring the date 9.9.2014, carry the tagline “Wish we could say more.”
Much of the event’s speculation, which will take place in Apple’s hometown at the Flint Center, a performing arts centre where Steve Jobs introduced the first Mac, has centered around the possible release of the new iPhone 6, possibly one with a 4.7 inch screen and another with a larger 5.5 inch display. The introduction of a new wearable device in the form of the iWatch is also a possibility, as Re/code’s John Paczkowski reported Wednesday. That said however, Apple isn’t commenting on what it has up its sleeve.
Apple shares rose 35 cents to $102.61 at 11:32 a.m. in New York. The stock is up 28 percent this year.
