Wall Street Pit’s Volume Leaders

Level 3 Communications Inc. (LVLT) shares moved lower 1.76% to $1.67 at 10:54 am EDT in Nasdaq trading. More than 32.5 million shares have already changed hands, compared with a three-month daily average of 26.9 million shares.

Netflix Inc (NFLX) shares gained $2.02, or 0.92%, to $230.18. The volume of NFLX shares traded was 1% higher than normal ; 2.6 million shares vs 5.6 daily average. NFLX’s t12 ROE is 65.75% ; ROA 21.34%.

Tibco Software, Inc. (TIBX) shares moved higher $1.43, or 5.37%, to $28.44 in Nasdaq trading. More than 3.3 million shares shares have already changed hands, compared with a three-month daily average of 2.5 million shares. The volume of the equity is currently 270% higher than normal. Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) recently broke off talks to acquire TIBX, Reuters reports.

Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM) shares gained 16 cents, or 0.44%, to $36.62. The volume of AKAM shares traded was higher than normal ; more than 1.5 million shares have already changed hands vs 5.7 mln average. AKAM said it to will team up with IBM (IBM) to accelerate applications across the Web. AKAM’s t12 profit margin is 16.73%.

Exelixis, Inc. (EXEL) shares rose 63 cents, or 5.70%, to $11.90. More than 2.3 million shares have already changed hands, compared with a three-month daily average of 2.1 million shares.The volume of EXEL shares traded was 205% higher than normal. EXEL is working with Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) to prepare for potential takeover offers after its experimental drug helped prostate-cancer patients in a study, Bloomberg reported.

WebMD Health Corp (WBMD) shares gained $1.31, or 2.66%, to $50.50. The volume of WBMD shares traded was nearly 200% higher than normal. WBMD sees Q1 results exceeding consensus. The co. also reaffirmed the financial guidance for FY 2011.
