Consumer confidence surged in February to its highest level in three years, a survey released on Friday showed. The Thomson Reuters/UMich survey’s final February reading on the overall index on consumer sentiment came in at 77.5, up from 74.2 in January, and the highest since January 2008. A prior estimate for sentiment in February was for 75.1.
