The WSJ reports that Federal prosecutors have decided to shelve their criminal investigation into former Countrywide Financial Corp. chief executive Angelo Mozilo without filing charges. The Feds decided that Mozilo’s actions in the mortgage meltdown — which led to $67.5-million settlement against him — did not amount to criminal wrongdoing.
