Netflix Inc. (NFLX) jumped $9.50, or 7.50%, at $135, the most intraday since mid-Aug., after Apple (AAPL) CEO Steve Jobs announced that his co.’s new TV multimedia version device [iTV] — which is a quarter of the size of previous versions and delivers video to consumers — will include a program to stream movies and television shows from Netflix’s Watch Instantly library.
Jobs announcement confirmed rumors that have swirled in recent days that Apple’s new device would offer Netflix movie streaming.
The new Apple TV-based software will be $99, which is $130 less than the current Apple TV product, and will come out in late September.
Shares of Netflix are higher on the session by 6.57%, currently trading at $133.70. Year-to-date, NFLX stock is up an incredible 123%.
