Tempe’s Institute for Supply Management reported Wednesday that activity in the U.S. manufacturing sector rose 0.5 percentage point in March, to 36.3, up from 35.8 the previous month, inching up for the third month in a row. While the economic activity in the manufacturing sector failed to grow in March for the 14th consecutive month, and the overall economy contracted for the sixth consecutive month ; today’s numbers indicated month-over-month contraction in American manufacturing appears to be slowing.
