Bloomberg Television’s Peter Cook is reporting that Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) says he will not vote for the financial overhaul bill because he is opposed to the bank levy added to the bill that would charge large banks and hedge funds to cover the $19B costs.
Bloomberg TV is reporting that Brown sent a letter to Senator Chris Dodd and Congressman Barney Frank spelling out his opposition, saying he wants Democrats to find another way to raise revenue to pay for the bill.
The letter obtained by Bloomberg Television states: “This tax was not in the Senate version of the bill which I supported. If the final version of the bill contains these higher taxes I will not support it.”
