Madoff Gets Into a Prison Fight Over Stock Market

Bernie Madoff reportedly got into a prison fight last week with a fellow inmate over — of all things — the stock market.

The scuffle occurred  near a ball court on the prison grounds in Butner, North Carolina, where the 71-year-old Ponzi king is serving a 150-year  sentence. Eyewitnesses told The New York Post, Madoff was talking with a fellow inmate when the two got into a heated argument over the state of the stock market.

The other inmate, described as a white man over 60 years old, reportedly pushed Madoff, who shoved back harder with both hands, causing his attacker to stumble.

Witnesses say the other inmate went chicken after a red-faced Madoff stood over him menacingly.

Madoff’s toughness, apparently, impressed a fellow inmate who “didn’t think Bernie had it in him”. “He got the best of him”, he told the Post. “He was really aggressive, and the other guy was in shock that he fought back.”

The altercation happened in front of about 20 other inmates, who told the Post they were surprised to see Madoff fight back.
