ITT Educational Services Inc. (ESI) shares are up $0.86, or 23%, to $5.08 on 7.44 million shares in mid-day trading Friday after the company reported its first quarter earnings results.
The for-profit technical institute posted earnings of $0.44 per share on revenues of $230 million. Analysts were expecting EPS of $0.07 on revenues of $216.6 million.
The company also said that it expects to complete the 2014 compliance audits of its administration of Title IV programs before the U.S. Department of Education’s June 30, 2015 deadline.
Shares of Geron Corporation (GERN) are higher by nearly 6% to $4.09 in midday trading on Friday after J&J’s Janssen Unit was granted FDA orphan designation for its imetelstat for the treatment of myelofibrosis. Geron has partnered with Janssen for the drug.
Agios Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AGIO) shares plunged 13.04% to $106.61 in mid-day trading after the company today announced new data from its ongoing Phase 1 study evaluating single agent AG-221. The data will be presented at the 20th Congress of the European Hematology Association taking place June 11-14, 2015 in Vienna.
Shares of Oragenics Inc. (OGEN) rallied 48% to $2.15 following its entry into a new exclusive channel collaboration with Intrexon (XON) to pursue development of biotherapeutics for oral mucositis and other diseases and conditions of the oral cavity, throat, and esophagus.
Oragenics said it will pay Intrexon 12% of the net sales derived from the sale of products developed from the exclusive channel collaboration.
