According to a report by Bloomberg News, Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple (AAPL) is presently in talks with Time Warner Cable (TWC) and other potential partners to provide video content to its next Apple TV device.
The upcoming refresh, which Apple plans to unveil in April, is expected to go on sale by Christmas, although the timing could change as the tech giant is still in the process of securing new agreements with content and distribution providers, the report said.
The fourth-generation platform, which plugs into a television set, will likely include a faster processor than its predecessors and an upgraded interface that would allow easier navigation between movies, TV shows, and other online content.
If Apple is able to ink a deal with Time Warner, one of the largest cable television providers in the US, it would mark the first such deal with a pay-TV operator.
