NEW YORK (AP) -- Business software maker VMware Inc. said Tuesday its ESX 3i "hypervisor" server software will be embedded in servers made by Dell Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., IBM Corp. and Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
VMware makes virtualization software, which allows a computer to act like multiple machines, each with its own operating system and software. It helps companies spend less on equipment and energy in their data centers. The hypervisor is installed below operating systems and helps manage the way computers run.
VMware said the servers will begin shipping in the next 60 days.
