Taxes

Hey guys,

Something that I completely overlooked but I believe that I am going to start my trading account with Scottrade due to their decent commissions and the fact that they have an office within 20-30 minutes so if I have a customer service issue I can express my sentiments face to face (which usually get the point across much better). When it is time to file taxes, would I need to get a printout of all transactions and send that to the guy that does mine and my families taxes? Thanks for the response and sorry for what is probably a really basic question that I could probably find with a search engine but would feel better off hearing from you guys.

Rob

I started using Quicken to list all my transactions and so far I am happy with it. It has an investment spread sheet that works pretty well and gives me a running record during the year.I use Quickbooks for my accounting software - both I can download into Turbo tax at the end of the year and then take that printout to my accountant for a final tweeking. So far I have been very happy with the results.

Most e brokers have downloadable

Files yo u can download that show your positions, long and short term gain, etc. SOmetimes you have to update them, and when you transfer to a new broker you must be very careful to properly record both the date and level of your initial purchase.
