Market this Wed 10/17

market strong opening due to a number of better than expected earnings reports. Intel , Yahoo, Seagate , , Altria Group , Coca-Cola, , United Technologies, Jp Morgan chase and Abbot Laboratories all topped consensus earnings estimates. IBM reported earnings that were in-line with estimates....Dow up 53 Points , Naz +29.97.

Oil traded higher ahead of the Energy Department's weekly petroleum report, which is forecast to show crude and gasoline inventories rose last week. A barrel of light, sweet crude rose 36 cents to $87.97 on the New York Mercantile Exchange...$88.08 currently.....Dow up 41.05 Points Naz +32.20 rtq

The economic data were mixed this morning. The core CPI for September was up a reasonable 0.2%. That was in line with expectations and the fourth straight such increase. Housing starts for September plunged 10.3% to a very low 1.191 million annual rate.....Dow 49.18 Points, Naz +33.17

major indices have held relatively well since the last update. Just reported, crude inventories rose 1.78 million barrels last week. Analysts expected crude oil inventories to rise 750k.....Dow only 22 Points upside, Naz +28.08
