Market this Wed 9/19

The stock market has started the session on a strong note with. Huge gains in foreign markets have had a carryover effect in the U.S. where relatively good news on the inflation front and the thinking that the Fed's actions will prevent a recession have contributed to the buying interest....Dow up 86 Points Naz up 18

Dept. of Energy reported that crude stockpiles fell by 3.87 million barrels. That is larger than the expected drawdown of 2.025 million barrels. The initial reaction in the energy pits has been bullish with crude futures for October delivery now up $0.64 at $82.16 per barrel...Dow up 91 Points Nas up 19.07 rtq

Investors at this point are looking or rather ignoring record oil prices and concentrating on other economic data that appeared to justify the Fed's rate cut and perhaps eased some concerns about lingering inflation. indices are holding strong as the rate cut enthusiasm persists....Dow up 110 Points, Naz up 26.59 rtq

This is probably a dumb question, but with short interest at an all time high, could short sellers being squeezed right now be contributing to the impressive run?

shorts do contribute to the upside no question Dave, since they add fuel to the fire.
