Netflix to Launch Application on Google’s Android

Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) announced that it has begun to roll out a Netflix application for Google’s (GOOG) Android platform. The company, making the announcements on its blog, said the download will be available initially in select phones that currently have the requisite playback support.

Netflix also said that it expects to quickly add to the number of phones that can download from Android Market as the co. works with ecosystem partners to expand playback support.

NFLX gained $5.04, or 2.09%, to $245.72 at 3:48 pm E.T. in Nasdaq composite trading.
