Harry Markopolos, the man who figured out how Bernie Madoff was illegally and constantly generating double digit returns for his investors, repeatedly told the SEC (as early as 2000) that Madoff`s investment fund was a fraud. He was ignored, and investors lost billions. According to Markopolos, the biggest investment houses in Wall Street never had any money invested with Madoff because they knew or suspected something was wrong with his fund.
