US Jobless Claims Fall More Than Forecast

The number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits declined more than forecast last week. Initial jobless claims dropped by 27,000 to 451,000 in the week ended Sept. 4, the lowest level in almost two months, Labor Department figures showed today in Washington. The latest figure was better than most economists’ expectations of 470,000 new claims.
