Mariner Energy Inc. (ME) reported one of its rigs has exploded 80 miles off the coast of Louisiana, with 12 people overboard, causing a mile-long oil sheen spread from the offshore petroleum platform which is burning in the Gulf of Mexico, the Coast Guard said Thursday.
