Obama Names his Choice for Chief Technology Officer

According to a press release posted to the White House’s official web site, Pres. Obama will be naming Aneesh Paul Chopra as his choice for Chief Technology Officer during tomorrow’s weekly address.

Mr. Chopra currently serves as Virginia’s Secretary of Technology. In this capacity, he leads the Commonwealth’s strategy on technology with a special emphasis on entrepreneurship.

Withe House, Office of the Press Secretary: Chopra will promote technological innovation to help the country meet its goals from job creation, to reducing health care costs, to protecting the homeland.

Obama’s choice comes after months of speculation. Some of Silicon Valley’s most prominent names, including Bill Gates and Eric Schmidt (among many others) were named as possible candidates.
