Total compensation costs for civilian workers increased 0.5% from Sept-Dec 2008, seasonally adjusted, following three consecutive quarterly increases of 0.7%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. In the 4Q, wages and salaries rose 0.5% and benefits rose 0.4%.
