In an interview this morning on FOX News Channel’s FOX & Friends, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) spoke with FOX & Friends co-host Steve Doocy about emails he obtained allegedly showing a potential cover-up by The New York Fed and Secretary Geithner during the banking bailouts. Issa said, we “need to ask” Secretary Geithner questions now as they “are about a period of time that we are still in,” and, “we can’t wait until Tim Geithner does his memoirs years from now.”

ON WHETHER HE WOULD LIKE TO QUESTION THE SECRETARY TREASURY IN THE NEAR FUTURE:

“We need to ask Secretary Geithner a couple of questions…we can’t wait until Tim Geithner does his memoirs years from now. They really are about a period of time that we are still in.”

ON THE EMAILS BETWEEN AIG EMPLOYEES REPRESENTATIVE ISSA OBTAINED AND THE FED’S “MISTAKE”:

“It’s not about the mistake, which was huge, billions of dollars of American’s tax payers money gone forever, it is about the cover up. And, these emails indicate there was an attempt not to let the American people know what was going on.”

ON THE FEDS “COVER UP”:

“Now it appears that part of the cover up was that they covered up is they covered up from their own boss. If I were Tim Geithner, if he didn’t know, I’d want to know why they thought that the tens of billions of dollars thrown away didn’t rise to his level.”

“That’s part of the whole question: where is the arrogance when you say that it didn’t rise to that level when it’s the kind of money the American people are now wondering where it all evaporated.
