China grew over 8% in 2009 while exports dropped by close to 20%. Exports caused a drop of over 4% in growth in 2009. In other words, if not for export fall, China would be in overheating area. Will China change its policy while everything is working well for China? Will china try to fix something that is not broken? The West have to do what it must do to fix its problems. Threatening China will not do the job. Will a trade war hurt China? Of course it will, but it may hurt China a lot less than the West because the West has a lot less to lose. If China lose 4% from a trade war, China will still grow by 5-6% or more. A 2% drop in the West will put its into negative area. Instead of trying to buy less from China, maybe the West should try to sell more. How? reduce the prices, Chinese are suchers for bargains.
