In a heated exchange during a hearing of the Joint Economic Committee of Congress, Treasury Secretary Geithner categorically rejected a request from Rep. Kevin Brady, the top House Republican on the panel, that he resign from his post for the way he’s been handling his responsibilities. Brady told  Secretary Geithner he had failed as the Obama administration’s point-man on the economy and asked:  “For the sake of our jobs, will you step down from your post,?”. Geithner replied that he served at the pleasure of President Obama, and said he agreed “with almost nothing,” Brady said. “Almost nothing of what you said represents a fair and accurate perception of where this economy is today” said Geithner.

During the exchange Geithner pointed out the undeniable fact that the President inherited “an economy falling off the cliff”.

I for one have lost confidence in Geithner’s ability to do the job. Everything this guy touches falls apart. TARP and Cash4Clunkers have completely backfired (see http://www.repofinder.com). He should pursue a new career as a magician, because he’s good at making money disappear.
