The transatlantic investigation into the K1 hedge fund group escalated on Thursday when its founder was arrested in Germany and US authorities revealed a money-laundering probe. Helmut Kiener remained in custody last night after appearing in a German court a day after prosecutors said they were investigating allegations of fraud and breach of trust against him involving dealings with global banks.
