Samsung has unveiled the new generation of smartphones from its premier line and last week, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) launched the iPhone 7, so what’s in store for Nexus fans? Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) hasn’t revealed much of its signature smartphone line and its 2016 Nexus devices did not feature the usual Nexus branding. However, we do know that Google is cooking up two new smartphones and they are expected to launch next month.

There are many conflicting reports about the next gen Nexus smartphones but some news outlets claim they will be called Pixel and Pixel XL. They are also rumored to be the fastest Android phones on the market. The new Pixel (Sailfish) and Pixel XL (Marlin) will be the only Android smartphones to come with an updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor in the US. The new processor offers breakneck processing speed and longer battery life.

The news of Pixel and Pixel XL’s Qualcomm Snapdragon processors came from Android Police’s David Ruddock. Ruddock took to Twitter to reveal more about Google’s next Nexus smartphones:

“By the way, as far as I can tell, the Pixels will by the first US devices with Snapdragon 821 by a long shot. No one else is using it,” he said. “Pixel phones will have exclusive Google support, exclusive software features, and exclusive financing options,” he noted.

“Google is going for it. So, if you’re the person who wanted Google to ‘really get out there and market their phones,’ you may finally see your wish granted,” Ruddock added.

So what about the price? Nexus smartphones are fairly affordable but Ruddock believes Google is getting out of the “cheap phone business at this point.” He added that the next gen Nexus will be priced at $649 for the XL version though it’s unclear if that refers to the 32GB or 128GB variant.

As far as hardware goes, the Pixel smartphone is rumored to feature a USB-C port, dual stereo speakers, and a 3.5mm jack. It is also expected to feature Full HD resolution and 4GB RAM. The upcoming Pixel smartphone also comes with a 12MP main camera, 8MP selfie shooter, 32GB onboard storage, and fingerprint sensor at the back. Inside, Google’s newest flagship device offers a high capacity 2770mAh battery. Its form factor is expected to feature a combination of metal and glass, giving the device a high end feel.

What’s next for die hard Nexus fans? According to an Android Pure report, the Pixel XL will feature a unique rear design. The larger Nexus also lacks the G logo button on the home screen. The case leak, which is circulating all over Weibo, features Google’s distinct branding on the back of the device, rather than the usual Nexus brand.

And to whet your appetite, Android Authority has posted a short 360-degree clip that showcases the supposedly HTC-made Pixel smartphone in all its glory.
