52 Week Highs: Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX), Interface Inc. (TILE), Hologic (HOLX), AVG Technologies (AVG), Taser (TASR)

Shares of Valeant Pharmaceuticals Int’l, Inc. (VRX) hit a new 52-week high on Thursday, printing the tape at $227.66. That’s a 114.77% rise, or $121.66 per share from the 52-week low of $106.00 set in August 11, 2014.

The stock closed at $214.06 at the end of Wednesday’s trading session, printing a one-year return of 60.19% and year-to-date return of around 49.60%.

VRX is trading at relatively strong volume Thursday with nearly 3 million shares changing hands. It is currently close to double its average daily volume and trading up 2.52% at $219.45 as of 12:28 PM ET. The average daily volume of shares traded over the last three months is roughly 1.69 million.

Shares of Interface Inc. (TILE) soared 13.88% to hit a new 52-week high of $22.73 on Thursday on higher-than-average volume. More than 1.42 million shares of the stock have changed hands, well above the average of 435K for a full session over the past month.

Interface on Wednesday reported first-quarter results that beat Street expectations. The seller of modular carpet products beat EPS by $0.04 and posted revs of $236.9 million in the period, topping Street forecasts of $228.4 million.

Stock reaction: TILE shares have performed well over the last year, rising 12.34%. The company’s stock is up 75.12% from the 52-week-low of $12.98 it reached on October 8, 2014.

Hologic Inc. (HOLX) climbed more than 6% to a 52-week high of $34.65 on Thursday. The move comes on a big volume too with the issue currently trading more than 3.30 million shares, compared to the average volume of 1.55 million shares.

The medical device maker on Wednesday reported fiscal Q2/15 net income of $47.8 million, after reporting a loss of $16.8 million in the same period a year earlier. Beat EPS by $0.02.

Shares of HOLX rose 4.49% to $34.12 in afternoon trading. The 52-week range for the stock is now $22.15 to $34.65. Shares of the 9.55 billion market cap company have risen 55.75% year-over-year and 22.14% year-to-date.

AVG Technologies N.V. (AVG) shares hit one-year high of $24.59 in today’s trading session. The stock has risen 17.86% this year and is continuing its upward trend following the company’s first-quarter profit of $11.4 million. It beat EPS by $0.09.

More than 697K AVG shares have already changed hands, which dwarfs the average volume of 291K. At current price next resistance is at $25.08. Support is at $21.76.

Taser International Inc. (TASR) shares touched a new 52-week high of $31.15. Taser reported first quarter EPS of $0.13 before the opening bell Thursday, beating Street’s expectations by $0.06. Revenues increased 23.8% from last year to $44.8 million.

TASR shares have surged 64.34% over the past 52 weeks, while the S&P 500 index has gained 11.85% in the same period.

The Scottsdale, Arizona-based manufacturer of electrical weapons has a market cap of 1.63 billion.
