Global Asset Class Performance Chart (Aug.31-Sept.04)

This Wall Street Journal chart shows last week’s performance of different major global financial markets.

As the chart above shows, Gold dominated the performance spectrum convincingly during the week. The asset class gained 4.0%, followed by EMs, US corp. junk, and Investment grade bonds, 0.7%, 0.3%, 0.1%, respectively. Excluding the greenback, which was flat for the week, the rest of investments posted negative gains across the board. On a y/y basis, the majority of them continue to be in the red with oil topping the list (-36%).
